Online Therapy
With the growth of the internet, services are being provided in ways never thought possible. Therapy, something traditional done in a professional's office, has now become something that can be achieved "online".
Online therapy shares many similarities to traditional therapy, but is also different in some ways. It does not offer the physical face to face encounter, but this is not necessarily a hindrance.
Online therapy contains many advantages including:
Therapy can be conducted without ever leaving your home or office. |
Some of us simply feel more comfortable talking to someone online, rather than face to face. |
There is not the stigma of driving and entering a therapist's office. |
Session times are much more flexible (we do our best to work around your schedule, and meet when it is most convenient for you). |
Online counseling costs significantly less than traditional face to face therapy. |
An advantage of online live chat sessions is that many people tend to hold back their emotions in person, but feel less inhibitied having a dialogue this way. |
An advantage of email therapy is that one can take as much time as they like to compose them, and this can be accomplished at the person's convenience. |
Online therapy is not a good choice if you:
Prefer a face-to-face form of therapy. |
Are in need of serious and intense treatment. |
Feel like hurting yourself or others
(please contact your local crisis emergency center immediately) |
Are in need of someone to prescribe psychiatric medication for you. etc |
